3D printing in engine construction - Additive manufacturing at MTU

MTU is the leading German engine manufacturer for commercial and military aviation. This position must be maintained. 

Laser 3D printing gives us more design freedom, no need for moulds and significantly reduced processing times. This works by using a laser to build up the material layer by layer from a powdery starting material. For example, components are produced for the A320neo engine, which is used in Airbus aircraft.
